The colourless to yellowish essential oil is extracted from the leaves and small twigs of the cajeput tree by means of steam distillation. The refreshing, lemony-herbaceous scent of the natural cajeput oil (botanical name: Melaleuca cajeputi) is reminiscent of eucalyptus.
