Avocadin is composed of refined avocado oil and the so-called unsaponifiable of avocado oil. The proportion of unsaponifiable matter, which consists of 70 - 80 % phytosterols, is about 25 % in avocadin. These phytosterols correspond structurally to the skin's cholesterols, which as an important component of the hydro-lipid film must be supplied to the body through the diet.

The phytosterols form a moisture-binding and at the same time lipid-replenishing film on the skin, which on the one hand reduces transepidermal water loss and on the other hand helps to alleviate the negative influences of UV-B radiation and skin-irritating agents. Avocadin is therefore very suitable for dry and sensitive skin (e.g. neurodermatitis, psoriasis, after-sun, and sun protection products).

Avocadin is heat-resistant and should be dissolved clearly in a stable oil (e.g. neutral oil) at temperatures up to 110 °C. The solution is then added to the other oils. The solution is then added to the other oil components and the combined oil phase is emulsified with the water phase. In emulsions, a dosage of 0.5 - 2.0 % is recommended. If the skin is severely affected, the concentration can be increased up to 10 %.
